President Aquino cited on 21 Jan 2014 Consul Wassim Nanaa the Philippines’ honorary Consul General to Aleppo for helping protecting the Filipino during the armed conflict in Syria and for his work in promoting Philippine cultural and economic diplomacy in Syria and in bringing the Syrians closer to Filipinos,”
President Aquino conferred the Order of Sikatuna (Grand Officer) on Consul Wassim Nanaa in a ceremony at Malacañang. President Aquino thanked Consul Nanaa for helping repatriate the OFWs as he noted his personal sacrifices in order to serve the Filipinos.
